William White

William White was born and raised in Barbados. The Caribbean island is proud of its artist exports, the most successful among them being Rihanna, who was presented her first Barbados Music Award by William White himself.

White initially returned to study in Winterthur Switzerland, the birthplace of his mother, at the age of nineteen. He worked as a waiter and as singer-songwriter for the band ‘Liz Libido’, with whom he released two albums before he finally packed in his studies and began to dedicate himself fully to his music.

His first solo album „UNDONE“ was released in 2005. With the song „THE ROCK“ he had previously won a songwriting competition in the USA. Subsequently he toured with his seven-piece backing band ‘The Emergency’ and performed as a supporting act for ‘Jon Butler Trio’ and ‘Ben Harper’.

It was with the release of his second album ‘Evolution’ in 2008 that White made his well-earned breakthrough in Switzerland and entered the Top 10 of the Album Charts.

His 2011 album „FREEDOM“ reached number 7 of album charts and earned him an invitation to play on the Mainstage of the Paléo Festival in Nyon, an honor rarely bestowed upon Swiss based artists.

In 2014, he recorded his fourth album „OPEN COUNTRY“ in Jamaica and entered the album charts at number 2.

In 2019 he returns with the single „LIGHT“.
